"The Path of the Jaguar" seeks to encapsulate some of the incredible legacy of the American zoologist, Dr. Alan Rabinowitz, to help save the jaguar through his efforts at Panthera, and beyond. The core inspiration is traits shared by both jaguars and Dr. Rabinowitz: fearlessness, vision, connectivity, and movement. The color palette comprises the 7 sacred colors of the Mayans to reference the importance this pre-Columbian civilization placed on the jaguar, as well as the impact the indigenous cultures had in Dr. Rabinowitz's journey through the Americas. The end result is a vibrantly-colored Jaguar standing tall with swerves of brushstrokes flowing from its fearless eyes and courageous heart, looking to the future with determination, hope, and resilience.
Gabriela 's Bio': Gabriela Gil nasceu em 1989 em Tegucigalpa, Honduras e cresceu na América do Sul e do Norte antes de estabelecer seu estúdio em Nova York em 2019. A migração constante fomentou uma perspectiva multicultural e alimentou seu interesse pela arte como forma de transcrever sua experiência pessoal usando linguagem visual. Gil está particularmente interessada em criar peças multicamadas que usam formas orgânicas, ritmo e cores vibrantes que reproduzem a natureza e prestam homenagem à sua herança latino-americana.
Gabriela 's Bio': Gabriela Gil was born in 1989 in Tegucigalpa, Honduras and grew up throughout South and North America before establishing her studio in New York in 2019. The constant migration fostered a multicultural perspective, and nurtured her interest in art as a way to transcribe her personal experience using visual language. Gil is particularly interested in creating multilayered pieces that use organic shapes, rhythm, and vibrant colors which replicate nature, and lend tribute to her Latin American heritage.
