What is the Jaguar Parade?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jaguar Parade is an open-air art exhibition of decorated jaguar statues. It is an art installation with a purpose: to generate awareness about the urgent need to conserve jaguars and their habitats and raise funds through their live and online jaguar auctions, which conclude each event.<\/p>\n

Placing the jaguar statues in vital public places brings the environmental cause to the forefront of the public\u2019s attention, reaching millions<\/strong> of people in a unique way.<\/p>\n

About the Jaguar Parade NYC 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jaguar Parade will display 40 life-size fiberglass jaguars painted, adorned, and magically transformed by artists, sponsored by businesses and individuals, and benefiting global environmental leading organizations: WWF, WCS, Panthera, and The Lion\u2019s Share, to be on display in NYC during 30 days beginning in September 2022.<\/p>

Preparations and Paintings<\/strong><\/p>\n

Each artist whose design is selected for exhibition will be provided with a life-size, blank fiberglass jaguar.<\/p>\n

Brazilian Artists will have March 2022 to prep and paint their jaguars in S\u00e3o Paulo.
The artists will have August 2022 to prep and paint their jaguars in NYC.<\/p>\n

Artist\u2019s Payment and Painting Materials<\/strong><\/p>\n

Artists will be paid 15% of the hammer or selling price upon completion and approval of their painted jaguar 60 days after the auction event.<\/p>\n

Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jaguar Parade NYC is open to all artists, from the acclaimed to the amateur. Painters, sculptors, artisans, multi-media artists, and other wildly creative people are encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n

Important<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

In consideration of being selected for the Exhibit and being paid an honorarium, Artist desires and agrees to:<\/p>\n

irrevocably transfer all of his\/her interest in and to the Design and Finished Jaguar, including, but not limited to, all<\/p>\n

derivative works based on the Design or Finished Jaguar, together with all copyrights, copyright applications and<\/p>\n

copyright registrations of the Design or Finished Jaguar, to Artery, for any subsequent use or purpose by Artery of any kind or nature.<\/p>\n

You may submit more than one design if you choose to paint more than one jaguar.<\/p>\n

Timeline<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jaguar Parade team will review your application as soon as it is submitted to ensure that it complies with the guidelines. If approved, your design will become part of the portfolio shown to event sponsors and will be able to be sponsored.<\/p>\n

Jaguar Parade NYC encourages artists to submit proposals as soon as possible so that we can assemble a sizable and diverse portfolio for review by sponsors and because sponsors will be matched with artists as they join the event.<\/p>\n

Painting the jaguar<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jaguar Parade will provide a painting space in S\u00e3o Paulo (BRA) and New York City (USA) for artists and notify the artists when such space becomes available. On special occasions, artists may produce jaguars in their studios or homes in New York City (USA) or S\u00e3o Paulo (BRA). Please indicate on the application if delivering the jaguar to a specific address is needed.<\/p>\n

If you don\u2019t live or won\u2019t be able to paint a sculpture in S\u00e3o Paulo or NYC, you must inform:<\/p>\n

  1. a) If you\u2019ll cover the travel\u2019s cost;
    b) If the sponsor will have to cover these costs and inform the amount.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Jaguar Specifications
    <\/strong>
    The Jaguars come in two models\u2014Standing and Sitting. Specific dimensions for the jaguar models are as follows:<\/p>\n

    Standing Jaguar<\/strong>
    80\u2033 long x 21\u2033 wide x 49\u2033 high
    85 lbs<\/p>\n

    Sitting Jaguar<\/strong>
    55\u2033 long x 32\u2033 wide x 54\u2033 high
    85 lbs<\/p>\n

    If your design is selected, we will make every effort to accommodate your choice of jaguar model. If your design is specific to a particular jaguar model and cannot be altered for another model, please indicate this on your application materials.<\/p>\n

    The jaguars are manufactured using a mixture of Class II Fire Retardant Laminating Resin and chopped roving fiberglass over an initial brushed-on layer of polyester gel coat. Then several layers of chopped strand matting fiberglass are hand-laid and wetted with the laminating resin to the point of total saturation. Steel is placed at specific stress points, such as where the legs join the torso of standing models and where the tail attaches to the body. The basic jaguar models may be altered by the artist so long as they remain structurally intact. Full details on the recommended method of altering the jaguars will be provided to artists selected to complete jaguars. Each jaguar arrives with a coat of primer applied by the manufacturer.<\/p>\n


    <\/strong><\/p>

    Paints, Topcoats<\/strong>, and Weatherproofing<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Jaguars will be placed in areas fully accessible to the public. Although a few jaguars may be in indoor locations, most will be outdoors. In creating a design, please consider the weather and other elements of nature, including sun, rain, wind, and dirt. We cannot guarantee whether a given jaguar can be placed indoors or in a weather-protected location.<\/p>\n

    Additionally, Jaguar Parade NYC is an interactive event that allows the public to touch and feel the designs. As such, designs should be created with durability and public safety concerns in mind. Although objects may be attached to the jaguars, artists should be aware that vandalism can and unfortunately does occur. Anything added to a jaguar should be attached so that it cannot be easily removed.<\/p>\n

    The surface of each jaguar is primed by the manufacturer. Unless you have altered the model or exterior of your jaguar, you will not need to reapply a primer. Acrylic paint, artificial resin paint, or two-component paint can be used to paint the jaguars.<\/p>\n

    A minimum of three coats of varnish is required using a two-part, hard gloss varnish. This step is critical to the ultimate durability of your jaguar, and jaguars that are returned unvarnished or which are incorrectly varnished may not be exhibited.<\/p>\n

    When placed in public, the jaguars will be affixed to bases weighing approximately 400 pounds.<\/p>\n


    <\/strong><\/p>

    Installation and Repair of Jaguars<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Artists will not be responsible for installing or removing the jaguars, as Jaguar Parade will manage this process. Artists should, however, be available for any possible touch-up work that may be required once the exhibit is underway.<\/p>\n

    All jaguars will require touch-up and cleaning before the auction. Artists are expected to be available to make these touch-ups during the weeks preceding the auction. If they are not, Jaguar Parade will be in charge of the maintenance.<\/p>\n


    <\/strong><\/p>

    Design Guidelines<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Artists should remember that the audience will be broad-based and of all ages, and designs should be appropriate for public display. Designs that are religious, political, or sexual in nature will not be accepted. Additionally, neither corporate logos nor advertising is allowed. As outlined below, designs will be evaluated to make sure they meet these guidelines. Jaguar Parade may reject any design that, in its sole discretion, does not adhere to these guidelines.<\/p>\n


    <\/strong><\/p>

    Rights\/Entitlements<\/strong><\/p>\n

    By submitting your application, you confirm that:
    1. You are the original creator of your design.
    2. You have not copied anyone else\u2019s original work.
    3. Your design does not infringe on anyone else\u2019s intellectual property rights (for example, trademark, copyrights, trade dress, design patent).
    4. If anyone else has contributed to your design, you\u2019ll need to get a signed, written agreement from that person assigning all of their rights in their contribution to you and attach the files.<\/p>\n

    As part of the application process, you must accept these terms and conditions. By doing that, you are indicating your understanding that you are assigning the entire right, title, and interest to your design to Artery Global Corporation, owner and producer of the Jaguar Parade NYC 2022. If your finished jaguar is approved AND sponsored by a company, you will receive 15% of the jaguar auction price. Artery Global Corporation will continue to own the entire right, title, and interest in your design proposal, accompanying sketches, and all derivative works, including the final work completed on the fiberglass jaguar. You will be acknowledged as the artist on a plaque attached to the base of the jaguar and in appropriate publications. However, the copyrights, including the rights to reproduce your design, create copies or reprint your design in books, will be owned by Artery Global Corporation.<\/p>\n
